What happens in the Muay Thai classes?

January 13th, 2023

People often ask about the content of specific classes. What does a typical class look like? What kind of equipment do they need to bring? Will there be contact? Will there be sparring?
The answer is, it depends on who comes to class. Each class is custom made, in the moment, to suit the needs of the students.
Even so, you can be sure if you show up to a Muay Thai class that there will be kicks involved. You’ll learn how to throw kicks, how to counter kicks, how to block kicks, how to catch kicks, and everything else about kicks. It’s a huge part of the art.

Coach Power

January 6th, 2023

Tots serious poseShelby and Alex are awesome. Have you been to their classes? Do it.

Shelby coaches the 9am Fitness Kickboxing on Wednesday, the 10am Muay Thai on Wednesday, and the No Gi BJJ at 10am on Thursday.

Alex coaches the 10am Monday Muay Thai class, the 6pm Wednesday Teens martial arts class, the Saturday 10 am Muay Thai class, and the 11am Teens martial arts class. Plus, he helps coach almost all the kids classes.

More coaches. More classes. The plans are all coming to fruition.

All the Programming

November 27th, 2022

If you ever have a desire to see any of our CrossFit programming for the last 3 years, it’s right here. Help yourself.

Now, the question arises, why would you want to look at the programming?

First, I strongly advise against looking at it before you come to class. That’s the kind of thing that makes people cherry pick workouts (come to the ones they like and avoid the stuff they don’t like.)

Second, if you’re stuck in your garage gym and you need a workout, our programming is right there for you to use. If you’re in a hotel and looking for workouts that don’t need much equipment, the corona virus programming stuff doesn’t have much in the way of equipment requirements.

Third, if you’re thinking about joining the gym, maybe seeing how we programming is something that might tip your hand one way or the other.

Fourth, hedgehogs. Maybe there are other reasons. If so, let us know.

Muay Thai

November 19th, 2022

That’s Shelby coaching Jiu-jitsu. She does that too!

It’s always exciting to add new classes to the schedule but I’m especially pumped to add Muay Thai to the schedule. Even cooler, the classes come with two new coaches: Shelby and Alex. Alex teaches the Monday 10am class and Shelby teaches the Wednesday 10am.

What is Muay Thai? Well, the best way to answer that question fully is for you to come in and do a class but the next best way is to tell you it is full of kicks, punches, elbows and knees. If that sounds intimidating, don’t sweat it – we play nice and scale things so students of all levels can play.

There’s Alex, all geared up for the kickery!
