Tournament Prep

The word on the street is there’s a Mo Duk Pai Kid’s “Mega” Tournament coming up on October 30th.  Why so Mega?  Grappling, forms and sparring – that’s why so mega.
With the pending mega-ness coming our way, we worked the idea of moving forward and striking – we started with punches, moved to kicks then combined the two.  Hopefully this drill will help the students with their tournament sparring.
Moving on, we worked our forms – prearranged sets of moves designed for presentation.  It’s the martial arts version of sheet music.  You learn what’s written on the page but over time you learn to give your own personal expression to that seemingly fixed piece.
Poor tournament doesn’t stand a chance, no matter how mega.
