The Perils of Half Guard

Half guard is like getting half a sandwich when you’re really hungry – it’s kinda a bummer but at least it’s something to eat.  If you’re on bottom, you’re kinda hanging on and hoping your partner doesn’t pass.  If you’re on top you’re almost to cross body and hoping your partner lets go so you can pass.  Like I said, half a sandwich.

Today in grappling class, we looked at a couple of ways to pass the half guard from the top.  After doing some technique and drilling for about 30 minutes, we started all our live rolls from… half guard!  The idea was to see if any of the technique work paid off.
