Being a Good Student

The best student is the one who can identify their own mistakes, acknowledge them humbly and work to the correct them. I say best but maybe instead I should use a term like “advanced” or “mature” or “seasoned”.

Digital video is a wonderful tool for encouraging this kind of student maturity. The huge advantage to digital video is that it doesn’t lie. There is the film, showing the student exactly how they moved with no hype, emotion or reluctance. This honesty is best dealt with in kind.

Be honest, acknowledge your mistakes and move on. Ignoring mistakes, beating yourself up over mistakes or making excuses for your mistakes simply takes time away from getting the work done. We are all students. We all make mistakes. We will always make mistakes. We are here to learn. Do work. Move forward.
