Takeaway

Today in grappling class we went from a mount bottom to guard bottom to mount top to side control top and then to a submission.

It’s was a lot of stuff.

Believe it or not, five years on, I’m still figuring out how to teach this stuff. My hope is in another five years, I’ll still be figuring it out. I am always searching for the most effective way to communicate information to students.

Today I think I did a good job in communicating that the mount reversal – getting from mount bottom to guard bottom – was the piece I wanted everyone to get a grip on. Everything past that was bonus, as far as I was concerned. In retrospect I should have probably kept the folks who were struggling just working on the mount reversal.

Hopefully the exposure to more technique wasn’t overload.
