One of the toughest struggles of martial arts can be finding good partners to work with. Some partners hit too hard… some don’t hit hard enough. Some go too fast… some don’t go fast enough. Some care too much about winning… others don’t care enough. You get the idea.
Today in kids class, the students worked some pad work back and forth with each other. It’s a great drill to see where they are at in terms of being to work with each other. Can they challenge each other but remain respectful? Can they work hard without pushing each other over the edge? Can they offer feedback without devolving into casual conversation?
Building good relationships with your training partners takes time and a willingness to adjust. It’s great to see the students getting an early start.
