I tried to emphasize three major points of the drill to the students:
1. Move your feet. Can you move to an advantageous position?
2. Keep your hands up the whole time. Protect the head.
3. Stay at a constant speed (in this case, slow). If you speed up to block, you won’t be preparing yourself to do the drill at a faster speed.
By the end of the hour, most of the students had wrapped their head around at least two of the three points. We’ll see if they remember any of it on Wednesday.
For a finisher, they got to take turns dragging each other across the floor (see picture above) and then perform a simple partner blocking drill.
