Celebrating Patience

Today at Lewis we awarded the year’s first orange sash. As with all promotions, it was a celebration of what the student and by extension, the whole community had accomplished.

This particular student took classes last year and did well. However, there was never that extra bit of “juice” that let us know that he was ready for more. In the last four weeks, we’ve seen nothing but “juice” from this student, all of which pointed to his already being at the next level. I love it when a student tells me with their actions that they are ready. It makes handing over the belt a joyful and simple formality.

Let’s hope the trend continues. Lots of the new students are already showing their eagerness, as are many of last year’s orange sashes. Giving out some orange/purple sashes could only make this already impressive group stronger.
