There’s something satisfying about watching athletes pour themselves into a five minute workout and come out completely smoked. Who knew you could get so tired in such a short period of time?
Equally so, there’s something fun about watching one athlete count for another. Compliments are hard to come by in the outside world but here, they appear in abundance: “nice squat!” “way to get under the bar” “you got this!” and so on.
Most of all, there is so much to learn by failing a lift. When an athlete rolls backwards as the bar pitches forward away from them and their eyes light up you know they are going to go right over, pick up that bar and get the lift. They realized something – some small adjustment that they didn’t quite have and they know all they have to do is fix that one thing and the bar will go up.
