How Random is Random?

Would you be shocked if you flipped a coin and got 10 heads in a row?  How about 10 tails in a row?  What about 5 heads in a row then 5 tails in a row?  You shouldn’t be – you’ve got the same odds of getting any of those three sequences of events – about .1% (I think.  Feel free to smash up my math here)
Anyway, the point is that our conception of randomness is skewed.  10 tails occurring in a row is no more or less magical than heads and tails alternating for 10 flips.  Thus it should follow that every once in a while you’ll see two remarkably similar workouts appear in a week – why not?  Sometimes life deals us the same challenge twice in a row… so why not in our workouts as well.
As for the picture… no words can explain.  You had to be there.
