Engine Tune Up

I stole Sunday’s workout from CrossFit Portland’s competitor’s program. It was a great test of recovery.

The structure was 9 three minute AMRAPs with a three minute rest inserted between each sprint. One to one work recovery ratio.

There was a lot that was interesting about the workout but the thing that stood out to me the most was the loss of explosiveness that went on as the workout progressed. The wall balls felt like a crawl. The burpees became mushy. Even the double unders seemed to slow down.

As always, there were some folks who thrived in this style of workout. Those people don’t need to work on recovery. The rest of us do.
