The Skills

Five for snatching

Many of you are developing mighty skills at the Olympic lifts, as evidenced by the embedded video. May I humbly offer you a simple way to increase those skills? Help your fellow lifters. The easiest path is if you see someone making a mistake that you used to make, offer up to them the way that you corrected this mistake.

After you offer them the correction, watch them lift a few times and see if they got it. If they did, great! Leave them alone with that ONE correction for a while. If they didn’t, try explaining it in a different way and see if that works.

The truth of teaching is that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. The more you try, the better your success rate will become. AND the other awesome payoff is that all your attempts to communicate information about the lifts will deepen your own understanding. Yes. You will get better when you help other people.
