Big Chunks

Willow led broadsword form parts 1-5

Our usual mode of operation with forms is to teach a few moves at a time. This helps insure quality and gives the student time to integrate the new moves into what they already know.

We are not taking that approach with the sword form. We are doing 6-8 new moves every class. We are on a deadline. Does this mean quality of individual moves will suffer? Does it mean the overall flow of the form will suffer? Maybe. It is certainly making me want to practice the form a couple of times everyday to make sure I don’t get behind and I know from experience the best way to refine a form is to do it a couple of times every day so maybe the “big chunk” method is a good one. Maybe.
