If you check our requirement list, you’ll see on the left the list of categories: strikes, kicks, tumbling, throws, forms, weapons, etc. One of those categories is drills. This week we’ll drill the drills.
There is some point to doing the drills simply for the purpose of drilling the drills BUT it is even better, in my opinion, to use the drills as a vehicle for examining movement. For instance, tonight we looked at keeping up on the ball of the back foot in a tiger stance and then ran that idea through several of the drills: street stages, 4 count street, 6 count blocking, reps, monkey lines, etc. Hopefully by the end everyone was slightly more aware of what their rear foot was doing and how being on the ball helps keep forward pressure on our partners.
