Which Weapon to Which Target?

sixWant to look like you’re really fast without actually having to be fast?  No problem.  Use the idea of closest weapon to closest target.

When we play tournament sparring, the targets are head, body and groin.  The striking surfaces are the hands and the feet.  Thus, in any given position, to appear like you are fast, simply move your closest weapon to the closest available target.  Often, this means NOT chambering your kicks.  Often, this means throwing a strike at an angle that is NOT a basic.  Not to worry.  It doesn’t need to be a basic to score a point.  It simply needs to make contact and have the body mechanic behind it to do damage if you had followed through with full power.

Be efficient.  Move your closest sparring weapon to the closest available sparring target.
