Mobility

I love running the Kung Fu and the CrossFit program… both for their uniqueness and how they compliment each other.  Today in forms class, we stole the mobility work directly from the CrossFit class (we’re doing shoulder mobility this week) with the thought that many of the Kung Fu forms require good posture and good range of motion so what better than do press a lacrosse ball into your pec minor to help out?  Perhaps using an assisted pull up band to mobilize the shoulder?
As a further connection, we’ve been talking all this week in Kung Fu about the idea of head control – that is, how can you control your partner’s head to your advantage.  So today, by doing mobility work we looked at how we can loosen the muscles up around our shoulder and thus have better control of our own heads, so we can better present our forms.
