Feats o’ Feets

A couple weeks ago we did a bunch of skill work on the jerk.  Today, we came back to the move to see if anything had crept down from the brain and into the body.  As a coach, I saw all two things that I thought were awesome.
First, athletes were getting into deeper split stances, allowing them to get under the weight more and thus go heavier.  Second, athletes were actively discussing technique points with me (and more importantly) and with each other – thus getting them to more actively engage in the lift.
Yay for skill weeks!  I know one of the initially toughest parts of CrossFit is dealing with the whole technical aspect of things (listen and watch when new people come in, you’ll see the look of frustration the first time they try and do a clean) but hopefully people are getting satisfaction from sticking with it and getting better at the moves.
