Theme of the Week: Kicking

Today we spend forty minute of class time on the front snap kick.  We looked at foot position, body position, how the chamber works, where the eyes should go, how to hold a good cover with the hands, the striking surface… and so on.
The hope in all this is that students walk away with one or more details that they were previously missing.  Then when they practice the front snap kick, they put those points in and then when they go to apply the kick in drills, they throw a more effective kick.  Progress.
The the next time we circle back around to talking about the front snap kick for a whole class, they will hopefully pick up something new, some finer grain of detail, practice that, put it into drills and move further up the spiral of progress.
Check out the student’s thoughts here.
