What are some ways we explore the quality of coordination? Cleans and snatches – both incredibly difficult movement patterns that require tons of work to string together smoothly (coordinate). Also, the relay ladder. It comes out every couple of months and makes our warm up a hilarious dance of copy cat.
Can you zig zag on one foot? Can you grapevine without touching the yellow bars? Can you run backwards through the squares? So many ways to play with the relay ladder. None of which have much to do with the push jerk except… coordination. That’s right, the push jerk is another one of those tricky Olympic movements that requires putting several pieces together smoothly in order to get things working correctly. Know the pieces. Know how to put them together. Start light and build your way up.
