Kid’s Camp 2010!

For our final kid’s camp of the school year, we were fortunate enough to have Moline Whitson of Harmony Yoga as our guest teacher.
What’s Yoga got to do with Kung Fu?  Well, it’s easy for Moline, because she’s a black belt in Mo Duk Pai and a Yoga instructor.  She tried to communicate the similarities by telling the myth of Bodidharma’s travel from India to China and the origins of Kung Fu.
What did Bodidharma see when he traveled all that way on foot?  Lots of animals.  What did he do with all his observations?  He made Kung Fu stances.  We’ve got horse stance, crane stance and tiger stance.  The Yogis did the same thing.  They looked at the animals and made poses.  They’ve got lion pose, eagle pose and fish pose.
