The agility ladder is a nifty little prop for helping students with footwork. Show them a pattern, then let them copy it. If they didn’t get it the first time, let them try it again. If they don’t get it the second time, then you probably picked something too difficult for them.
After making students copy me for several runs, I always like letting them freestyle. Every once in a while, someone does something neat and I gain another pattern to pass on to the next group of students.
A student that can follow directions and copy the teacher is a start. A student who can follow directions, copy the teacher and be creative – that’s a student that makes teaching fun.
