Day 2 -Monkey

While the animal being made in the picture may look like some strange insect, the animal of the day was the monkey.

What does the monkey mean in a martial context? Playfulness. How can a sense of fun increase your learning capacity? Students pay more attention when their enjoying themselves. How can a joke make hard work easier? It keeps the focus out instead of in. How can friendly competition be kept friendly? By never taking winning or losing too seriously.

Tera, our guest teacher, had an excellent way of getting the idea across. The only thing more absurd than getting a piggy back ride from someone close to your own size is getting a piggy back from a bear walk position and yet it is also incredibly hard work for both people – the spirit of the monkey.
