Kid’s Summer Camp-Session II-Day 1 -Crane/Grace

Our second week of summer camp started today. For the theme, since the five elements worked so well for our last session, we decided to go with five animals.

We picked: Crane, Monkey, Snake, Ox and Horse.

Looking at our guest teachers for the week, we tried to match up the theme with the topic. Today was Tai Chi, so we thought the Crane – a graceful bird – was a fitting animal.

David, our instructor, taught us several moves from the 24 posture Yang style form and their application. It’s always refreshing when a Tai Chi instructor takes the art back to its martial origins. Plus, the students all got an opportunity to see how powerful and challenging moving slow, with thought and grace can be.
