Fire Ox

We’ve started up PE classes at Southwest Charter school again. This time, instead of getting the whole school year, we’ve only got the students for 11 weeks.

Reflecting back on last year, and our attempts to pass on the Kung Fu form Sui Wan, we decided it was too long. So, we made up a short form and were going to see if we can teach it in the time we have.

The hope is that the students will appreciate a completed short form, rather than a third of an uncompleted form. Plus, it gave us an excuse to be creative.

Why ox? Because the Ox is the Chinese zodiac animal that best symbolizes patience, a trait that we believe deserves some serious cultivation. Why fire? Because everybody loves some excitement in their forms.
