Stand Up!

This week students worked on remaining mobile in a crab-walk position, and standing up quickly with good balance while maintaining a barrier between themselves and a partner (who played the role of the bully by following with “hands out” to keep the pressure on).

Also popular with the kids in all programs (as well as adults during day offerings, such as Tue, Th 12-1PM Noon Workout classes) was “the airplane drill,” where one partner walks aimlessly about, slowly swinging extended arms at head height. the defender has to work to strike at openings on the airplane attacker, and “get in and out” without getting bonked in the head! This drill forces one to be quick on their feet, necessitates switching up between high and low range targets.
