Speed and Technique

Ever since we got our oly-lifting visit from the folks at PDX weightlifting, there has been much improvement in our technique. Bars are moving in straighter lines. Elbows are locking out faster. Deep breaths are being taken.  Weights are going up.  Good things.
It occurred to me today that in addition to technique, one must never underestimate the power of aggression.  That is to say, concentrating on flinging the bar up as quickly as you possibly can.  I’m not saying that this is an alternative to focusing on good form but rather that it is a piece of it.  Yes, keep your weight on your heels.  Yes, pull the bar to your hips.  Yes, jump as quickly as possible and race to get under that bar like your life depended on it.
Be aggressive.  You might find 5 or 10 more pounds in it.
