If you aren’t using them then you’d be flopping around like a noodle when you pressed, and exploding your spine when you dead lifted. Look, I’ll show you. Let’s do 150 sit ups with 60 heavy deadlifts. Tell me if doing dead lifts doesn’t get harder as your abs get tired from the sit ups. Why would that be? This is because you use your abs to stabilize yourself in a deadlift.
