Testing, it’s that day where you show what you know, get creative when you don’t know and try and learn a few things along the way. In other words, it’s exactly like every other day of training except at the end you get a belt or you don’t.
How do you get on the testing list? Train consistently – at least two times a week. Nail down your basics – know the names of techniques, know how to do them and know how to apply them. Show an improvement from your last rank (or from when you started if you’re going for your first rank) in your martial body mechanic – keep your hands up and use your hips when you strike. Demonstrate a martial attitude – adapt and thrive under adversity.
How do you pass a test? Don’t pace yourself. Leave everything you’ve got on the training floor.
