In Good Standing

Today at Lewis Elementary students revisited a wide variety of martial stances, and examined the notion of “forward, and backward lean” in adopting the best of form. There is great practicality in setting oneself up to face an opponent in a solid stance, and a finer art still behind assuming a balanced, yet offensive attitude (that involves utilizing the exaggerated forward lean) in doing so.

Students visualized themselves as wild animals ready to pounce on unsuspecting prey, executed a variety of punches and kicks from said positions, and were challenged to maintain their focus throughout it all. Boys Vs. Girls, who won? It was a draw, but all strongly agreed the “slug crawl” was toughest of all!
