What is a modal domain and why do we care?
Modal domain is fancy talk for “doing different stuff” so now if you hear someone talking about CrossFit making you better across “broad time and modal domains” you now know what they are saying is that CrossFit is supposed to make you better at doing different stuff for any (read short, medium or long) length of time. If you look at the workouts we do, that goal should be fairly apparent: we run, we lift, we throw, we jump, we bear walk… we do lots of different stuff.
Since the goal is to get better at a broad spectrum of things, we do (duh) a broad spectrum of things. Turns out (at least this is the word from several people who train at the gym) that this broad fitness improves their “specific” game (soccer, running, martial arts, etc).
