WHERE/WHEN: Join longtime educator and head instructor Wally Jones for an extra-fun “Family Martial Arts” series for human beings ages 3 (and their caretakers) at our Hillsdale Town Center “Capitol Highway” campus @ 6315 SW Capitol Highway. This series takes place from 10-11AM on three consecutive Saturdays in October: 10/15, 10/22 and 10/29. *Costumes optional on the 29th 🙂

CONTENT: Caretakers are expected to take class with their children, but the movement options are designed to be optional, low-impact, and scalable for all. There will be a group warmup, introduction to (gymnastic) equipment w/ various options for use, an obstacle course/stations to interact with [as participants choose] and final 10 minutes dedicated to an informal/social cleanup time (to allow participants to depart, one group at a time). The focus lies on engaging general movement skills/gross body challenges…not fine motor Martial Arts techniques. *Adults interested in being side-coached on any specific movement techniques will be more than welcome to ask for that during the class.

COST: These classes are limited to 10 participating bodies and the cost is $25 per ‘team’ for each class in the series.

STAFFING: There will be one lead instructor, and possibly another tween helper on hand to keep things moving along, and help ensure that participants are spread out across the space.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: This fully padded space is designed for fun and safety, with three doors open, fans spinning, and gates over said doors. Other Covid precautions include limited class sizes, and vaccination required for all involved. Masks are optional.

Join longtime early childhood teachers Wally Jones and Lara Jones MEd, for a fun “pop-up” class for littles that centers on social-emotional health – and pro-social play!

The theme of this pop-up class & open playtime session will be “Big Feels!” Vocabulary will center on language related to emotions and related manners.

Meets Thursday 10/6 at the padded play space @ *6315 SW Capitol Hwy* from 9:00-10:15AM.

Formal class time [story/signing/singing/games] runs from 9:15-9:30, and the rest is time to visit + free play time with fun gymnastics equipment and toys that promote gross motor development! Live ukulele sing-alongs, vocabulary, silly puppets, read-alouds, and pro-social big-body play…all happen here! Appropriate for adults and babies & toddlers ages 0-3.

We leave doors open (but gated off with solid barriers up to 4′) for robust ventilation; when it is cool outside, please wear layers, and grippy socks for fast movers are very highly recommended!

All participants must register in advance and all ages 6mo+ are required to be vaccinated, out of concern for teacher and youngest/elder attendees health please.

It’s time to look ahead to our annual Fall Tournament! This year we’re getting an early start on registration so that we can plan things a little differently. Out of Covid safety, we will look to space out various divisions over time, (less bodies in the gym at once) and livestream the competition to help cut down on bodies inside the gym. It will be especially helpful in terms of proper planning, if families can please register well in advance.

WHERE: Our Cap Hwy campus @ 6315 SW Cap Hwy
WHEN: Saturday, 10/8/22 @9am- 1pm ~ We will notify each family on which specific time slot – as the date approaches

COST:$40 to participate in all divisions in their age group.

WHAT TO BRING: Full uniform, and sparring gear (if you have it), mouthpiece (if 12 or older), water bottles.

We will do our best to break the kids up into evenly matched divisions according to age, skill, and rank and will award 1st, 2nd, and third place medals in all divisions. Not everyone will receive a medal. Nobody will be pressured to participate at any point.

Events will include forms, stick sparring (for the younger children), sparring, grappling, and a mystery division (if we have time). Students are welcome to participate in none/any/all of the different competitions.

We ask that only one adult at a time be inside the gym to cheer on students and that anyone who come inside the building be vaccinated. Masks are welcome but not mandatory.
