Get in on the action, and join Whitney Handrich at Southwest Portland Martial Arts (Capitol Hwy campus) for this special class in September, with “Tiny Tots Yoga” for adults + children [crawling to age 4 ]. Meets on Sunday, September 15th from 10-11AM. Enjoy 45 minutes of direct practice with Whitney on the soft mats of the dojo, with Open Play to follow until 11:00AM.

“Join us for an engaging and creative introduction to yoga, mindfulness, and meditation through partner and group yoga-inspired play, music, storytelling, and dance. From using our imaginations to go on a yoga adventure to unwinding in peaceful relaxation, this is the perfect opportunity to bring out your own child within, have fun, and bond with your little one!”

This dynamic class will be limited to 25 students (adults and children) and may involve noise, activity, and pacing associated with working with young children in a small, enclosed space. The class likewise involves some positive touch during certain group poses.

Pre-registration is required to save your spot. No Drop-ins please. Tickets are transferrable, but non-refundable please.

Street address = 6315 SW Capitol Hwy in SW Hillsdale

Registration + payment functions to secure your spot at this event. Each year we have enjoyed an increasingly great turnout; start helping promote “early and often,” and we should knock it out of the park again this year! Do not wait to register…there are more schools in the area than slots, and this event has only grown over time.

The spirit of this event is intended to be one of inclusivity/unity and helpfulness. While we will be sandwiching 20 amazing preschools into one open-plan gym space, there certainly is room enough for everyone’s program to shine! We celebrate the diversity of our schools,
and are pleased to offer you all a space to offer up information and help families determine a “best-fit” program for their children!

Vendors may set up as early as noon. Please only bring tables that are 5′ in length max. We will not be able to provide vendors with electrical outlets. Families don’t much care about slideshows…they mainly just want to meet school reps and talk, face-to-face. ***NO PRODUCT SALES, OR SCHOOL SERVICE SALES allowed at this event. It’s all about you and your amazing schools! In other words, nobody should be tabling or walking around hustling/interrupting you, to sell you stuff;)

We are hosting a point sparring and forms tournament at our new space on Saturday, November 9th from 9am-11am.

The goal is to give students from the three MDP schools (and hopefully a few kids from outside schools) an event that motivates them to continue progressing in their martial arts skills, even during the busy opening months of the school year.

Divisions will be created the day of the event. We will do our best to sort students in groups that are of similar age, size, and skill level. We will use a double elimination format in sparring to ensure that each student gets a minimum of 2 matches. Medals will be handed out for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in all divisions.

Sliding scale admission means parents are welcome to pay what they feel they can afford: 10, 15, or 20 dollars.
