A Brilliant Summary

thirtyBefore we move on to the next of my somewhat nebulous “10 mental skills of CrossFit” let us pause for a moment on the skill of transitioning to soak up a story.

Today after one class, I was congratulating a student on his brilliant transitioning.  He was jumping down from his final rep on the box, turning in mid air, landing in a push up position and going directly into his first rep of the push ups.  It looked awesome.  Someone pointed out that it probably was only saving him about 1/2 a second – so about 1.5 seconds over the course of the workout.  That’s probably true BUT as the student succinctly noted, it wasn’t just the time he saved, it was also the fact that he was forcing himself to keep going.

YES!  That, my friends, is quality transitioning.  Not only do you move smoothly between the pieces of the workout but you do so in such a way so that you always keep moving.
